The Taiwanese designer Chen Shao-yen in September in Paris

No podium this season at London Fashion Week for Chen Shao-yen, but the creator Taiwan has not gone unnoticed so far. Invited, along with 59 other young designers to present her collection in an exhibition at Somerset House, from February 18 to 22, a former student of Central Saint Martins College is now the Parisian catwalks.

Entitled ‘Goddess’, his collection Fall / Winter 2011 consists of eight pieces inspired by Western as Eastern goddesses. Fur and crystal – Swarovski jewelry signed – in contrast to the look very “biker” of certain models.

Looking for funds to develop its brand, Chen Shao-yen hopes to continue its participation in major events. Winner in March 2009 Fashion Weekend in Brussels organized by the magazine Le Vif Weekend Knack and Weekend, he presented his work in February 2010 before an audience of designers and fashion critics at the London Fashion Week. Last September, he made his debut at the exhibition On / Off in the British capital, before being selected this month by the department store Selfridges in London, with 19 other young designers.

For next season, the Taiwanese have been invited to present his work at the Vauxhall Fashion Scout, London, and during the parade Who’s Next in Paris. It is also considering collaborations with musicians and theater groups.
