The less ostentatious luxury watch at Baselworld

Baselworld, large international gathering devoted to watches and luxury Silver Jewellery, opens its doors from 24 to 31 March in Basel (Switzerland). This year the show is a response to the crisis by turning to models less ostentatious and more sober.

Among the host of new features that present the brands this year, models less extravagant and less “bling-bling” are numerous, the current trend is clearly in simple design. In terms of watches, many brands have dipped into their roots to imagine new luxury timepieces.

The dials are therefore less fat, more refined, with one or two-tone colors, and is quite often a decoration inspired by the past: Art Deco New York 30 years in DeWitt, a tribute to Lange & Söhne the great explorers of the nineteenth century, wink Hermes saddle to its roots, tradition vintage Bell & Ross, etc..

Swiss manufacturers do not mean forget their expertise in technical matters. Mechanical innovations and delight fans, like Tag Heuer, which engages in Basel with the first watch to display the hundredth of a second center hand. Another important trend: the use of funds transparent boxes to reveal the mechanisms of movement.

Baselworld opens its doors Thursday, March 24 to Thursday 31 March at the Messe Basel Basel. Entrance fees are 60 CHF (about 47 euros) for a day pass, and 150 CHF (125 euros) for a permanent card.
